I`ve recently testing an exe file protected with enigma: hardward id locked (Hard Disk Serial Number Only) But after a high-level HD format the hardward id has changed.

How i can a avoid this situation??
Additionaly i need one which can not be modified by the user.

I really want to buy this product, but this matter is very importany for me.

Thanks
Alain

Hi Alain,

That's very strange, Hard Disk Serial Number is the hardware lock feature that could not be changed. This feature is trying to get serial number of hard drive (serial is flashed into drive by manufacture) which could not be changed, moreover after formatting... I never heard any issues from any customer about changing of drive serial. Maybe you used System Volume Serial number, that could be changed after formatting?

Also, as an advice, try to compare hardware id that you get before and after formatting with the Hardware ID Checker tool (main menu - Tools - Hardware ID Checker), maybe in the one of the cases Enigma just was not able to extract a serial by some reasons...

If you have a time and can reproduce this hardware changing, I could give you a debug version that generates an execution log, and we could compare two logs and see why there are different hardware id.

Regarding other hardware locking features - almost all of them have own specific disadvantages. Like, Motherboard return hardware id only if the file run with admin rights, CPU could be disabled by the BIOS on some PC etc.

Regards
Vladimir

Hm, really, in the second ID Enigma was not able to retrieve hdd serial. I already had same problem, it is impossible to get hdd serial from RAID disks, but it seems some OS incompatibility.

Do you install Windows on a real hdd, or under some virtualization tools like VMWare, Virtual PC?

Anyway, it is very strange that Enigma can't get serial of same hdd on different Windows versions.

If you have a time, I could send you few examples, that get hdd serial, and maybe we will be able to solve this problem. What do you think?

Hi
I've been testing, in the same machine i did a new format but now installing VISTA ultimate, and now i have a new hardware ID:
011352-0835E9
I dont use any virtualization system, its in real hdd.
So i have 3 different hardwared id according OS Version in the same pc, and other thing, if i return to seven or Xp, each one keeps its proper hardware id.
I have a friend whit a cybercafe, now i will test mi exe file protected in several machines and i'll report the result
thanks

It's very strange. I download your protected application and run. See below
