Hello
I noticed when user register using their Hardware Key, some of the hardware keys are the same.
Example: C3915A-****** (*** to hide last digits
This is difficult when I have to set a dead serial to a user who asks for a refund. The other users will receive dead serial notice.
Is this same (duplicate) hardware key normal?
Regards
Les
Same Hardware Key on user computers
Re: Same Hardware Key on user computers
Hi Les,
Yes, same hardware ids may appears. This mainly depends on a settings in the Registration Features - Hardware Lock panel. If you select more parameters there, then more unique the Hardware ID will be.
But note, if you mark the key as stolen, this does not mean that other keys with the same hardware id will be also known as stolen, no ways.

Re: Same Hardware Key on user computers
What is the recommended minimum amount of devices that should be selected for uniqueness? Let's say for 10,000 users?
Two or more?
Two or more?
Re: Same Hardware Key on user computers
To avoid this situation I would recommed to use combination of different hardware lock parameters.
For example:
- HDD Serial - cannot be used alone as it is unable to get serial for RAID disks (anyway it works well with usual hdd disks and ssd disks that are becomming very popular);
- CPU - good one but may cause duplicates;
- Windows Serial - also good one, but may be duplicates with the company Windows license.
The best way - combination of the 3 above.
